Risk is everywhere!
In today’s increasingly global marketplace, every company has to consider particular risks involved in expanding its operations outside its domestic borders. Business risk appears in a bewildering variety of guises - financial risk, market risk, operational risk, reputational risk, intellectual property & copyright risk, geopolitical risk, security risk, and espionage risk, to name just a few. Understanding some of these risks is intuitive; however, many are not…
Risk is a constantly present factor in business decision-making process, and determining appropriate ways to manage and mitigate risks is crucial to the ultimate success of any new investments or expansion of existing business operations. Business risk management is key to the economic consequences of investments in many industries including mining and oil & gas where such investments can exceed billions of dollars, and many years to complete.
Success in business often comes down to recognizing and managing possible risks associated with potential opportunities and returns. The Global Business Risk Management Forum (GBRMF 2007) will highlight the challenges surrounding various forms of business risk that impact corporate entities due to the international nature of their business.
The GBRMF provides an ideal setting for guests to meet leading industry specialists in their fields and to network with their peers in an informal environment.
Who should attend GBRMF 2007: CEOs, CFOs, corporate governance officers, chief risk officers, board members, international business lawyers, cross-border taxation & international specialists, risk analysts, academic scholars, and anyone who is considering expanding their operations abroad.

SÉMINAIRE SUR LES PRODUITS HALAL
Four Points Sheraton Hôtel
Salle Mont Everest
475, rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montréal, QC H3A 2L9
LE 3 OCTOBRE 2007
Madame, Monsieur,

Speaker:
Mr. Andreas Weichert, Minister-Counsellor and Senior Trade Commissioner,
Canadian Embassy, Riyadh
The Canada Arab Business Council (CABC), in cooperation with Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, is pleased to invite you to a discussion and briefing on the market and opportunities for Canadian firms in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The KSA is the largest economy in the Middle East, comprising 25 percent of the Arab world's GDP, and it is the world's leading oil exporter, possessing one-fourth of the world's proven oil reserves with an income of $17 billion per month. Saudi Arabian economic development is focused on developing the Kingdom's infrastructure, human resources, and private-sector, and the leadership is actively promoting the privatization of the industrial and agricultural sectors. Recently, the Saudi government has undertaken a major effort to support economic diversification and increase the development of non-oil sectors by encouraging private sector participation. This is creating significant opportunities for Canadian exporting firms in both goods and services. The discussion with Mr. Andreas Weichert will focus on business opportunities in Saudi Arabia and how business is conducted in this largest economy in the Middle East.
There is no charge for this event but to learn how KSA spends $17 billion per month

Second Annual Middle East Insurance Forum
The 2nd Middle East Insurance Forum will provide a unique forum for insurance and reinsurance executives from around the world to gather at a time when the insurance sector is turning its attention away from the traditional markets in favour of the emerging markets who are able to deliver quicker and more profitable returns. The Middle East represents a fast track opportunity for decent returns and this year’s forum coincides with the ongoing political picture, a construction and shipping boom, and the development of the insurance sector with moves to introduce legal and regulatory frameworks bringing local markets in line with their international counterparts which makes entry into the region for international companies on a large scale increasingly possible. 15th November 2006- Luncheon & Meeting- "KSA: Business and Investment Opportunities" (Calgary)
